![]() On the BBC 6.30 forecast it was stated that there had been snow today on the highest Scottish mountains, by that I'm assuming above 4000ft. I recall that snow has been seen here at every time of the year apart from the last week of July when it is just a little bit *too* warm for it to happen. Therefore today's snowfall can be seen as highly unusual, but not unprecedented. -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl Snow videos: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3QvmL4UWBmHFMKWiwYm_gg |

I recall one occasion about 50 years ago when I experienced heavy snow falling on the summit of Cairngorm (4,085 ft) on 1st August. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org |
