Here in Essex, perhaps not overall, but if I ignore the miserably wet
June I would say so. July and August have been exceptionally dry and hot
at times with just a handful of days under 21C and virtually no rain for
the last 6 weeks and just 1mm today!. With next week looking warm and
sunny again it has certainly been a good summer.

I reckon so, Dave. We're talking about 0.1C increments but I make it the 6th warmest summer since 1797 in this area. Not up there with 1976 or 2003 but very decent nonetheless and a couple of records thrown in for good measure.
