Big storm started at 17.35, torrential rain, frequent lightning every 30
seconds or so and load claps of thunder with a couple of really nasty ones shaking the house. Really dark at one point some localised flooding. Rain ceased around 18.40 but thunder still rumbling in the distance. Total rainfall 29.6mm Was hoping this month would be our first drier than average month of 2016 but looking unlikely now as we already have 73% of the average rainfall for September. I expect it will make the news since Media City is pretty much underneath the epicentre. It looks very black doom laden clouds and seemed to come from nowhere. Rainfall so far looks like ~50mm. I'm not going out to look closer. Storm here is now backing off a bit for thunder and lightning but it is still putting rain down at a fair clip. Localised flooding likely. Regards, Martin Brown |

Graham (Weston Coyney) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please send it my way Graham ! 9mm for all of August, 5mm so far in September and July was only 16mm. Probably driest July to September spell since 1976 or before. Dave, S.Essex --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus |

September 1976 was very wet in most places IIRC. -- John Hall "Banking was conceived in iniquity and born in sin" attributed to Sir Josiah Stamp, a former director of the Bank of England |

Dullest and wettest since 2012 with temps just above average, never seen the garden so green! Best week of real Summer weather for me was last week in stunning Jersey, now that was Summer ![]() Graham (Weston Coyney) |

Plenty of lightning over the sea. This the last gasp of CAPE as it slips west.
All rather exciting in the black of night. Len Wembury,SW Devon |
