Yet another front reaches the SE and nothing but a Trace to record.
Must admit, I almost put money on it even though we had Heavy rain forecast for 8 and 9am according to the Met Office. Won't be until October before we see any useable rain here I reckon. -- Keith (Southend) "Weather Home & Abroad" http://www.southendweather.net Twitter:@SS9Weatherman |

I didn't realise until I switched everything off to go to bed. But it all sounded like it was raining heavily. First thing the morning the sky was clearing into its thin high clouds routine and all seemed well with the world. All is right with the world except for the tinnitus; a swirling ringing backdrop like you get with high blood pressure as when you press you palms into your face -heavily. In a few hours time when it has all gone away and I have forgotten about it I will read a report about a volcanic eruption. A long, slow, continuous one that gets on my nerves if I let it. One that is going to wash around deep in the chamber annoying the # out of me, rather than letting me get up and go for a walk. Oh hang on.... I wonder if watsename has gone ashore. Where is that swarm.... See you later. |

writes Yet another front reaches the SE and nothing but a Trace to record. Please don't assume that Southend is typical of the SE as a whole. We didn't have an awful lot of rain in my part of Surrey, but it was certainly far more than a trace. If you live just up the coast from Shoeburyness, by repute the driest place in Britain, then I'm afraid you are going to have to expect this. -- John Hall "Banking was conceived in iniquity and born in sin" attributed to Sir Josiah Stamp, a former director of the Bank of England |

Didn't look like it rained at all here last night. After a bit of a cloudy start it soon brightened up and by early afternoon it was warm and sunny again. Fantastic weekend weather. Could easily pass for July if it wasn't for the sudden onset of darkness after 6..30pm. Gerard Rochester Kent. |

In fact, if you go to http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/...aries/anomacts and choose 2016, Rainfall, Summer, 1981-2010 anomaly, the noticeable thing is that Essex has not been drier than normal. OK August was dry, but June saw twice the normal rainfall in that area. Cornwall was drier than normal overall, though it's certainly making up for it in September. We've topped 100mm now. Graham Penzance Still, hoping for a dip in the Ocean tomorrow when it brightens up. It should be fairly warm & still fairly humid in the afternoon. Graham Penzance |
