Yesterday was the 1st day to fail to reach 15C (peaking at just 14.7C) since 19th May (14.1C). A distinctly chilly wind.
Today a complete contrast. With a very gentle breeze off the Bay, where the SSTs still around 16C, the prolonged morning sunshine into SE facing Penzance pushed the temperature up to 17.8C by 13:30. A bit more like it, it feels vastly different. Interestingly, a narrow band of thin Sc which crossed just after dawn, developed into a line of Cu & Cb as it's moved up the County, to give some showers well to the east. Surfwise September was generally excellent, and the forthcoming week looks an absolute classic, with deep lows locked in mid west Atlantic and offshore winds on the north coast. By the time the swells, generated largely 1,000 miles away, get here, it'll result in a long period, pretty big clean swell. http://magicseaweed.com/Sennen-Surf-Report/4/ Yes Cornwall's the place to be and at http://gannetholidayapartment.co.uk/ you get secure storage for a board and ridiculously low out of season rates! Reached a maximum of 16.1°C yesterday though that was in the sunnier interludes, rather cooler in the showers giving a total of 4.6 mm. And what a contrast today was; unbroken sunshine all day with a crystal clear sky. And it was strong sunshine too despite the low(ish) elevation. A maximum of 18.1°C today and 10.9 hours of sunshine. A rare (for the time of year) sea breeze set in around midday changing the wind direction quite abruptly from a northerly to a southerly. UV levels dropping like a stone, now struggling to make it to 4.0. Suntan's just about holding on.... -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |

Plenty in the sea today in a very nice wave. I wasn't able to go, other commitments. A shame as I can't imagine it being this good again this year. Looks like being windy here for at least the next 2 days, and rather dangerously big. I would like to squeeze in at least 1 more surf before it's too cold, it's a long time until next May. http://www.sennen-cove.com/index.htm shows a big rip just this side of the surfers, which everyone is rightly avoiding. Lifeguards still on duty at week ends. Graham Penzance |

It is essentially a travel agents / visitors page, there seems to be one for most resorts, e.g. Newquay https://www.facebook.com/LoveNewquay . Graham Penzance (sunny but decidedly breezy.) |

High tide, the beach has vanished, extreme surfers are out. The swell might not be that high, but the clean & long period nature, evident in the photos, makes them powerful. Height isn't everything. Graham Penzance - A sunny, breezy day. |
