Late this afternoon, from higher spots, the cloud edge was still clearly visible to ESE. The satellite imagery shows that the cloud edge must have been 90-100 miles away. Max temp 3.7 but now steadily falling. I'll be watching developments later this evening with interest. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org @TideswellWeathr |

I too will be reading the reports with interest albeit from afar. However the chances of snow here tonight are about as high as me finding an ice cold beer in the hotel mini bar ![]() Col |

However, with the clearance & strong NW just arriving I expect it'll fall back somewhat from about now, as is already happening on Scilly http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/w...tion/gbgebw7u2 Progressive temperature rise throughout the day, shows up well here http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/w...tion/gbukbmeyr Wouldn't be surprised to see gusts 50mph in west Cornwall over the next 3 or 4 hours Graham Penzance |

I was at the Albilad. It was OK. Small rooms but good food and fast wi-fi internet access. I'm likely to have another trip before Christmas. I'm at the Intercontinental, that's pretty central, not far from the fountain. I looked up your place, it's quite a way to the north. I may be back myself before Christmas, not sure yet. Been reading your snow reports, from them I reckon that there wasn't anything much in Bolton, possibly the odd sleety flake I guess, very much doubt there was anything settling. Col |
