Just a dusting of wet snow here in North Yorkshire. Only really arrived
at about dawn - it was raining before that. Looks grey and dismal out.

Roads were gritted but the rain washed it away overnight.

Rain turned to sleet around the same time Norman 23.00 but turned back to
rain around 01.00
Very wet night, rainfall stands at 17.1mm so far.

I see there is plenty of the white stuff at the Cat & Fiddle.
Looks milder into the weekend and next week.
I notice the met office 30 day range forecast has changed it's hinting at
something warmer now

All in all a bit disappointing. Still, very early in the season.

We were happy. My wife had to go to Bakewell yesterday and that might have been
impossible if the forecast had been anything like correct. As it turned out,
the roads were clear.

I saw yesterday that Derbyshire County Council were tweeting that the amount of
snow over the Peak District was much less than had been forecast.

The auto forecast from 24 hours earlier was more or less bang on then!
The later forecasts overdid it.

Not really. The automated forecasts issued from 1600 on Mon 7th onwards all
predicted heavy snow from sometime on the evening of Tue 8th through till at
least dawn on Wed 9th, mostly with the temp on 0C. It was, of course, very
marginal. We ended up with about 15mm of rainfall equivalent but it produced
only 3 cm of lying snow,
