uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged. |

![]() not public output, returns this You do seem to be the only person having trouble with this - I can also reach the site without apparent problems (Chrome/Win10). It does sound like a browser problem or some particular quirk of your configuration or connection. |

We're on English channel but any surge appearing on the Dover prediction there, and not for Wick,Sheerness etc, woyuld probably be coming along the channel, so would give a reasonable idea of timing and degree of surge for channel ports. That plus a crude wind-stress channel approaches and channel to surge app is probably ok for NTSLF outages. Other people in our local flood warden group can monitor that Ductch site, in questionable meterorology. |

eg what should be here for Portsmouth http://www.ntslf.org/storm-surges/la...ort=Portsmouth As the bathymetric part of the model processed at the NOC, Southampton is pretty fixed, then relevant to a weather thread, as the main initial conditions feed must be the meteorology. Does anyone know if the NOC or EA has to pay the MetO for a feed of data, or whether a free Metar/Taf feed? Then if someone fails to pay the bill or quibbles , then the NTSLF surge predictor craps out, 2 or 3 times a year. The National tide-gauge sytem also craps out at times, but only for one tide cycle or so, not for days on end. With all the xmas nonsense , the NTSLF is likely to be out for a week or more. At least very low astronimic tides for this period of the end of December. The NTSLF Surge Predictor is still broken, 2 weeks on now |

At least very low astronimic tides for this period of the end of December. For anyone searching on continuing NTSLF surge predictor broken / outage, considering events in the North Sea on friday. From an NOC source, the storm surge model is run at the Met office for an Environment Agency Flood Forecaster who has a desk in the Met Office forecast room. The public storm surge plots are probably inserted into the NTSLF web site at the Met Office and that mechanism has broken. Unlike provision to the EA, that link will not be considered “Operational” so lower priority for being fixed. Apparently the Met office are switching to new super-computers and NTSLF problem may be to do with that. |
