See
http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/20...at-record-low/ The link to Cryosat's Ice-thickness maps still suggests much of the thicker ice is queuing up waiting to get out of the Arctic through the Fram Strait. http://www.cpom.ucl.ac.uk/csopr/seaice.html The recent cold weather in Svalbard and the way the ice is now pressed against the north coast suggest winds have recently been helping this old ice out through the Strait. Forecast MSLP anomalies for the next fortnight suggest this will continue. See charts at http://wxcharts.eu/. -- Graham P Davis, Bracknell, Berks.
