Default Cyclone Debbi-Inage 27-2100

Here is a false colour image of Cat3 cyclone Debbi, 27th/2100z, close to
Bowen on the Queensland coast. I have seen gusts of 138 mph at nearby
Hamilton Island, mean speed 112 mph in the past hour (22z to 23Z).

The sequence of observations for Hamilton Island as cyclone Debbi passed
close by can be seen at:

http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ60...01.94368.shtml

They make interesting reading, with a peak gust of 163 mph at 1025 local
(EST).
The automatic station seems to have withstood the onslaught, apart from the
temperature sensor packing up.
Note, the page updates regularly, so the sequence will only be available for
a couple of days.

In the 24 hours to 9:00 a.m. local time today the highest rainfall total was
646mm at Clarke Range, about 45 miles NW of Mackay. I'm not sure of the precise
location but it looks to be around 800m above sea level.

Got anything from the Arctic. I think it will be worth watching the Aleutian Low to see what it evolves into by the time it gets to Iceland.
