Today (19th), I recorded a maximum of 29.9C making it the warmest June
day in my record going back to 2005. The previous warmest June day was during that gloriously warm and sunny June of 2010 with 28.8C on the 26th. My hottest day was on the 19th July 2006 with 30.8C (another day the sea breeze failed). Very warm days (27C) are rare here as the sea breeze normally comes to the rescue but today was an exception. The heat and humidity rose and peaked at 14:30 when the DP reached 21.0C, another record for June. High DPs (20C) do not normally occur until July at least. With unbroken sunshine and calm conditions if felt slightly 'sticky' this afternoon and this evening feels every bit as oppressive as the temperature isn't cooling off that much (as it usually does). With it well over 30°C in the house, methinks a night's sleep in the hammock in the garden is in order. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |
