uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged. |

I did see on BBC news ch yesterday evening on the met graphics, but I don't see on the public plots now an intense narrowing of the isobars about south of Ireland early Sunday. The presenter made no mention of it, considering it looked remarkable narrowing to me. GFS hi-res has it as a trough, tending to mini low? with very localised wind enhancement patch in the west English channel, but no more than 35mph sustained / 45mph gusts. Of little marine interest as more like neaps tides then, unlike 23 Aug and the North Sea and spring tides then , as the windy back edge of ex-Gert comes around into the picture |

I only just noticed , for late morning 21 Aug, Mersey to Wash.
Blink and you'd miss it , no preliminary trace of it in the Atlantic, rapid wind enhancement over land for 45mph sustained winds. Due to Isobar packing south of mini-low tracking across the England/Scotland border. Now will that mini-system move farther south , in later model projections. |

Downplay the previous, I was mistakenly looking at gusts-plot , not sustained winds plot |
