I just caught the end of the weather with the sound very low, however did I
hear Rob E saying that Tuesday was going to windy and wet just like autumn. I was very surprised having seen all the forecasts on the group over the past couple of day. Maybe I am wrong and suffering from lack of rain fever ![]() Thanks Chris Kempston, Bedford -- |

Maybe I am wrong and suffering from lack of rain fever ![]() Yes, at 23:55 on News 24 the presenter/forecaster said rain in the South and especially the South West on Monday, pushing North across Western areas by Tuesday and "some significant rain just about possible" ... whatever that means! There was a "moderate rain" symbol over Dorset on Tuesday and lots of lighter rain symbols in the South and West. Hmmm... -- Dave |

Maybe I am wrong and suffering from lack of rain fever ![]() I saw Rob earlier and as I've not been looking closely over the last week it had me wondering too. The culprit appears to be the front on the T+72 http://imkpc3.physik.uni-karlsruhe.de/pics/brack2.gif (12z finalised chart - note the 'interesting' goings on over northern France..) copied here http://www.metbrief.com/12z_t+72.gif Looking at the raw Global Model data on Sembach http://ows.public.sembach.af.mil/Gif...synoptic72.gif (data time 00z Saturday) the frontal zone is well marked with a fair bit of cloud and some patchy-ish looking rain. The 18z GFS run is also indicating a bit of rain, http://129.13.102.67/wz/pics/Rtavn724.gif copied here http://www.metbrief.com/18z_t+72.gif All this combined with the strength of the wind could well put a bit of dampener on things and give quite an autumnal feel as suggested. Easterlies, must admit I don't like em much, often hard work aviation wise. However I'll take them in January :-) Jon. |

Certainly Bob Pritchard on Radio 5 this morni9ng didn't seem to think
that outside the south-west there would be any significant rainfall. -- John Hall and the latest Bracknell surface charts position the front further south-west, making rain more likely in SW England/S Wales but less likely in the SE where the need is perhaps greater. I wonder if it will reach Cheltenham...?!? Some people have commented how interestingthis setup would be in January - it would be interesting in July too if we were waiting for thundery rain! Bloke on BBC Radio Kent said that Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and probably Thursday would be dry with periods of sun and about 14°C every day. Jonathan Canterbury |
