This is on the A623 between Peak Forest and Tideswell this morning. The
road was impassable yesterday but the County Council managed to get it
cleared overnight

Hi Norman

Good to hear praise from the public for the highway authorities and gritted drivers. I saw only one person interviewed on the tv grumbling about a perceived lack of gritters. I'm still trying to work out how gritters can work their way through three lanes of solid traffic....

Hi Julian,

There's nothing but praise for Derbyshire CC Highways Dept here this
week. They have done a wonderful job in appalling conditions. I have
very little sympathy for anyone who got stranded this week. It was
always going to be very bad and, ignoring the detail, it was predicted
to be very bad.

The church is something else. A village with a population of 2000
shouldn't have a church like that. It's known as the Cathedral of the
Peak. It's 14th century, a time when people in Tideswell must have
lived in hovels.
