Is it just me or does anyone else struggle to see if sunshine is
expected on the new graphics?

Not just you - is there *anything* that denotes sunshine on the new
maps? Or indeed cloud?

All I see is a temperature symbol with a coloured line underneath.

Isn't it just sunny in the bits which are cloud free?

Don't you think the green screen is a bit harsh providing as it does an
outline around the presenter making them look like a cardboard cutout.

The chroma separation and blending on the old system was much better.

I was in the Yorkshire Wolds like you David (Langtoft I think?). We
moved from Kirkburn to THornton-le-Dale 2 years ago. I can now see the
Wolds 7 miles to the south from my computer desk.
