Default [OBS] Ystrad, Rhondda - Thu 15 Mar 2018

0900z: 11003KT 12km Recent rain 8ST005 7.8/7.0 QFF 985.2 rising.
SYNOP: 41262 81103 10078 20070 49852 52014 72166 886// 333 88705=
A cloudy 24 hours. Intermittent slight rain started around 1500z on Wednesday, becoming persistent by 1800z, and moderate occasionally heavy from 1930z to 0700z, before becoming light again and eventually ceasing not long after 0800z. Event total 30mm exactly. Again it was the persistence of moderate rainfall that clocked up the total, rather than any prolonged heavy rain. Maximum rainfall rate briefly touched 7 mm/hr around 2330z, but the rate was mainly around 3 mm/hr. This site has been recording for a week now, and already ther has been 87.4 mm. No sign of effects from (what appears to me to be) the copious amount of rain. The Rhondda river has barely risen overnight. Currently cloudy but dry, with skies looking brighter to the south.

14/0900z to 15/0900z:
Max: 9.6 (1306z)
Min: 6.9 (0223z)
Rain: 30.0 mm

Cloud broke from the south by 0945z, and there were only small amounts of cloud for over an hour, with sunny periods. In the past hour there has been a steady build-up in convective cloud, with some quite high tops visible. Dry since just after 0800z. Very good visibility.
