Around midnight on Monday 31st December, Belgian rainfall radar started to display some very strange patterns.
The disturbance was caused by vast numbers of birds suddenly taking off when scared by the noise of fireworks set off to celebrate the New Year. https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2019/01...rradars-verst/ - scroll down Colin Youngs Brussels |

A great case study...and as I've just mentioned in 'the other place', if you scroll right down, after pressing 'translate' you'll find a good annual weather summary.
It would be nice to see time-series graphs like that for a few long-running official observing sites in the UK. Cheers Julian Molesey Surrey |
