A pretty windy night down here. Maximum gust of 50mph in sheltered Penzance, but on the north coast it was (well still is) wild.
Maximum gust near Lands End 71mph, and a good F9 http://www.landsendweather..info/ Maximum gust at St Ives 68 knots 78mph Shame the old Gwennap Head station is not operational, it would almost certainly got 80mph. It's worth noting the the MetO site 'strongest winds' max sunshine' etc. records are getting less & less likely to get beaten. To take those 2 examples Gwennap Head holds the English low level wind record, and Falmouth has the 2nd sunniest year ever, just 2 hours behind Eastbourne. Both sites, like Penzance, have died. No low lying coastal sites in Cornwall. Excellent visibility apparently https://magicseaweed.com/Live-Sennen-Webcam/65/ Graham Penzance |
