Frequent showers during the late afternoon and evening on Friday, most of rain and briefly moderate, however there was a heavy one (max rate 23 mm/hr) with small hail at 1730z in association with a trough. Showers became more intermittent after midnight, and it has been dry since 0700z. Fast-moving convective cloudscape again today - but looking a lot less unstable, and currently only small amounts present which has revealed some equally fast-moving dense cirrus to the south. Visibility generally good, falling to moderate/poor in precipitation. There appears to be a lot of salt spray in the air this morning. Southwest to west surface wind remained strong all night - F5-6 and gusty near showers. In all, some interesting weather from Erik over the past day or so, with strong gusty winds, heavy frontal rain and heavy squally showers with hail. Rainfall total attributable to this system was just short of 47 mm.
