Dont ask me why, but I occassionally watch Fox News on Sky Digital (531)!
When the channel breaks for commercials, viewers outside America see weather-charts for various regions around the world. I assume the numbers on the chart relate to temperature, but something must be wrong. For example: According to Fox News: the temperature for London NOW is 8 (probably deg C) but TOMORROW is 56 !!! I dont think so somehow. I am trying to work out if they switch from using deg C to deg F, but this cannot be the case either as there is no way Norway can have a temperature of 75 even in deg F! That would be big news if it got down to 23F in Miami. We would hearing how the Florida orange crop has been destroyed. John |

John I've noticed a few American weather websites are beginning to make an effort to include celsius temperatures in brackets after the fahrenheit. I think this is a good sign. May be they are just in a confused state for the mo ![]() The US is the only place left to use F as standard AFAIK. |

I presume they simply want to show a good spread of areas. But Newquay must be so boring. It hardly ever snows the-) I doubt they get many thunderstorms either. Jack |

Newquay is not boring. But there are bigger towns in Cornwall. Truro, the
capital for instance. Phil |

I saw the Total Eclipse of the Sun from Fistral Beach in Newquay August 11
1999 Yes, I definately DID see it through a tiny patch in the cloud. I Think Newquay was the only place on Mainland Britain to glimpse it! |

I Think Newquay was the only place on Mainland Britain to glimpse it! My kids and I saw it from Berry Head in Brixham, albeit through thin cloud. The inner corona was clearly visible through the cloud with the naked eye (like a faint annular eclipse) but did not show up on photopraphs and videos. It was still the experience of a lifetime! ![]() -- Dave |
