uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged. |

I see that the observing site on Sule Skerry (03010) closed on 27th
March 2019. It opened in 1952 with manual obs being done by the lighthouse keepers. When the lighthouse was automated an AWS was installed. The AWS has now been decommissioned due to the difficult access for maintenance purposes. So, another long-running set of observations comes to an end. In my days as an Assistant in the Met Office at Prestwick Airport the obs from Sule Skerry were amongst the first that the forecasters wanted to see plotted on the charts. How priorities change! -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. https://peakdistrictweather.org twitter: @TideswellWeathr |

Maybe it was under-reporting AGW, he said only half-mischievously. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. https://peakdistrictweather.org twitter: @TideswellWeathr |

Little did he know they didn't want him to know the little he thought he knew. For example this faqs was written years ago. http://weather.org.uk/resource/ukswxfaq.htm#2B.4 |
