Back to summer this morning. Hope the mist doesn't roll back in, though it's blue out to beyond Scilly at the momement. Just a few cliff top mist patches going by the webcams.
Certainly a rush to the beach likely this morning, for those still enjoying the half term break after the less than perfect conditions of late. Grab the shorts & the sun block! https://www.aspects-holidays.co.uk/webcams/mousehole and quick, in case the mist rolls in. Graham Penzance |

Graham Penzance Unbroken sunshine since at least 07:00 (now 11:20) but still cloudy according to the MetO, as it's still forecast to be all day. Now 18.4C in Penzance, even it stays sunny, could end up the warmest day of the month. In fact pretty much sunny across Cornwall this morning. Stunning out at Sennen this morning, it couldn't get much better. https://magicseaweed.com/Sennen-Surf-Report/4/ Some evidence on convergence down the spine now, and there's plenty of low cloud /sea mist offshore, but currently still well out to sea. Little bit of patchy cliff top mist. Graham Penzance |

I think the models are slightly overdoing the low cloud in this part of the warm sector. The forecasters are aware of this - but, of course, the apps use the raw model data. Little bit of patchy cliff top mist. Looking on the visible satellite sequence there is cloud on the way (first bits just getting in to Scilly now) but you may have a couple of hours of sunshine yet. -- Freddie Dorrington Shropshire 115m AMSL http://www.hosiene.co.uk/weather/ Stats for the month so far: https://www.hosiene.co.uk/weather/st...201905MAY.xlsx |

As I'm just off out I'm hoping it will dissipate, at least for a while, as the air descends on the approach to Penzance. Graham Penzance |

Thin Sc arrived around 13:00 but the temperature still climbed to 20.8C, the highest since 22.3C on 20th April & the 1st 20C of the month. It was also the warmest day of the month on the Island, St Ives (20.3C) Unusual for spots on both N & S coasts to get their highest monthly temperature on the same day, but the wind was WSW, so it was on offshore descending wind in both towns. Had a wet walk this morning then a pleasant afternoon with new-found relatives -- Ah well, at least part good! Looks like a bit of repeat today, the 'blue slot' has just arrived & we are set for good spells of sunshine again. https://surfbeachbar.co.uk/sennen-web-cam/ The models are correctly predicting some sunshine today, which is an improvement, but still showing a maximum of 16C. (Reached 20.8C yesterday). Good end to the week for those down here on half term. Only 5.3mm since 10th, and looks set to be the driest May since 1992. This despite a 17mm deluge on 10th, and some distinctly iffy looking synoptic charts during the month. Good wave with an offshore wind developing on the north coast. Graham Penzance |
