Brussels on Wednesday 5th June 2019

Overcast morning with light to moderate rain, which petered out towards midday. Brighter from mid-afternoon: cloud thin enough to allow some weak sunshine until early evening.

Cloudy evening, with darkening sky towards 21.00 local time. A couple of flashes of lightning with thunder around 21.15, followed by moderate to heavy rain for about half an hour.

Second storm arrived suddenly at 22.20, with squally winds and heavy rain, and a few subdued rumbles of thunder. Continuous heavy rain until about 23..00, but it has slackened since then and is only light now at 23.35.

Much cooler than yesterday. Light SSW wind at first backed SSE to S during the morning. Wind abruptly changed direction to NNW to N in the late afternoon, and increased during the evening storms, with particularly fierce gusts at the start of the second storm.
