0900z: 04001KT 40km 1AC080 8AS100 11.2/9.4 QFF 1005.0 falling.
SYNOP: 42982 80401 10112 20094 40050 57017 8807/ 333 81358 88460= Thursday afternoon's thunderstorm rumbled on until 1540z. Plenty of thunder and lightning but not much in the way of rain, as the core of the cell moved NNE just to the east of my location. Cloud cleared rapidly after the storm, with sunny periods - although other convective cells could be seen in the distance and there were a few drops of rain before 1900z. Patchy high cloud during the evening gave a colourful sunset. Cold and mainly clear during the first part of the night, but medium cloud layers arrived from the south after 2300z, arresting the temperature fall. There was some slight rain around 0530z-0615z, otherwise it was dry overnight. Medium cloud layers have thickened significantly over the past hour or so. Underneath the cloud the visibility is very good, as it has been overnight. Surface wind generally light overnight - southerly at first, becoming variable in direction before midnight, then settling down to north-easterly late in the night. 06/0900z to 07/0900z: Max: 16.2 (1433z) Min: 6.9 (0123z) Rain: 2.8 mm -- Freddie Dorrington Shropshire 115m AMSL http://www.hosiene.co.uk/weather/ Stats for the month so far: https://www.hosiene.co.uk/weather/st...201906JUN.xlsx |

1500z: 04010KT 4500m Moderate rain 6ST008 8NS060 11.6/10.6 QFF 999.7 falling.
SYNOP: 41345 80410 10116 20106 49997 57031 76366 8672/ 333 86708 88556= A wet and gloom afternoon, more typical of the Rhondda than Shropshire. Persistent moderate rain and overcast skies. Less gloomy for a time around 1400z as the rain eased back almost to slight, with the stratus dispersing for a short time. Stratus is back now, and the base is covering the south Shropshire hills. Visibility has deteriorated to the lower end of moderate. Northeasterly surface wind has increased further to F3-4. Maximum temperature so far today is 13.1 (1041z). -- Freddie Dorrington Shropshire 115m AMSL http://www.hosiene.co.uk/weather/ Stats for the month so far: https://www.hosiene.co.uk/weather/st...201906JUN.xlsx |
