Default Otter Valley, Devon - Not a bad ol' Day

Here in the Otter Valley we often do quite well in these brisk
westerlies at this time of year. And today was no exception with lengthy
spells of 'tropical' intensity sun, shining through the bluest of blue
skies made for a better than expected day.

Incredible visibility and the clouds making for a dramatic skyscape at
times. Who wouldn't like a day such as this!

A maximum of 18.7C, nothing to write home about but given the strength
of the sunshine and the freshness of the countryside after yesterday's
rain, a perfect day for the hammock.

Despite the unsettled nature of this June so far, sunshine hasn't been
that bad with the monthly total at nearly 60 hours. Rainfall total at
18.6 mm.

16.7C max in Penzance Nick, though I have to say it felt cool in the wind. Not really June like, but a vast improvement on the previous.
A very benign, cool start to today

Scilly always does well, relative to most the mainland, for sunshine in these conditions. That helps push the temperature up a bit. Yesterday 17C even at the airport, arguably the coldest spot on the Islands, 18C on St Martins. The local BBC forecast always incorrectly assumes that because its exposed to the breeze it's the coolest area of the SW. One good bit with DB, when he did the forecast, was that the would up the forecast temperature when it zoomed into Scilly, typically by 2-3C over the main SW map, to get a more realistic figure.

About 60 hours of sun up at Bosullow as well, 30 day running total around 240 hours, but set to fall.
