... This also adds fuel to the cold winter scenario, with the high SST's in the Med, the occurance of cyclogenis's is more likely down their with high pressure blocking to the north. Of course a Bartlett High could fall into this category, although these may be a little further south. Well, Keith I'll sign for that winter :-)). Starting actually third of december with some light night frost; snow on Boxing Day; followed by moderate to heavy frost during the last week of December and the first days of January. Then some thaw -- jan 12 10.1 C (!) -- but again a frosty period from jan 17th -- until jan 25 severe night frost; and light to moderate during the day :-)). Period of ice ended unfortunately February 10 th 1996. Can remember my son's first skating tour -- 80 km; he was eleven years old and insisted to come with me :-). Half dead afterwards; but very very proud of his medal. Wijke The Netherlands |
