Default The End of this Cold Period

This week sees a cold trough covering the country which should last up
to the coming weekend.

On Sat. 25th October, I expect a surge of warm air moving NE from E
Spain to SE Germany - probably too far away to affect SE Britain.
Otherwise Britain experiences the cold trough.

On Sun. 26th October, The cold trough in the 500mb level has all the
qualities of forming a cut-off-low near Biscay or off SW Britain.
Warmer air from the W is already on its way into Ireland, increasing in
strength all the time, to enforce the cut-off event.

On Mon. 27tth October, a strong WSW airstream in the 500mb level pushes
what remains of the cold trough into Denmark and Poland. Warmer but
unsettled weather flows into the country.

On Tues. 28th October, a small ridge moves into the country from the
SW. Ahead of it, in the 500mb level, a small trough can just manage
to form over E Holland, Germany and N Italy. This would mean a short
improvement for Britain's weather.

Cheers, Keith

No, finer. Night frost not excluded, but becoming warmer behind the
ridge.
Cheers, Keith
