Default No rain today .. or tomorrow ... or ......

On the BBC Breakfast forecast this morning the south-east was going to have
"a miserable day" - overcast with some heavy showers and a biting
north-easterly wind. Here in SW Essex, after the hazy sunshine of this
morning, there was broken cumulus. Some of it looked vaguely threatening
but there was no rain at all. Quite a pleasant mid-autumn day, in fact, and
ideal for working outside.

I've just seen the BBC south-east forecast for the next few days and they're
now watering down (!) any mention of rain. Some showers are possible later
tomorrow but those on Wed/Thurs, are likely to be very patchy and light,
north of the Thames.

I'm now trying to work out just what rain-shadow I'm in here.

Very similar forecast for Norfolk. As it turned out it's been cold, with the
odd shower, dark skies interspersed with bright sunshine and the odd bit of
hail. With a bit of luck, I'll get out on my bike tomorrow :-)

Cheers.

Even from the CF forecast, broadcast only yesterday, they seem to be
back-pedalling from the wet conditions that were expected in the south
on Wednesday. Just showers now......

Pleasant day here as well, just a light shower late afternoon.
Max of just 10.2C though. Felt pretty cold and that was with very
little wind as well.

I'm now trying to work out just what rain-shadow I'm in here.

Mind you, it is a bit
nippier out there now, a mere 8 degrees C !

Indeed, it's cycling longs time as opposed to cycling shorts! For me the cold
weather is well and truly here when I have to start wearing my long-fingered
fleece gloves when cycling as opposed to the fingerless ones. And the
long-sleeved base layers & jerseys & having to carry the neoprene overshoes &
the waterproof jacket "just in case". I want summer back ;-)

Cheers.

Could this be because the 'rain' for the south-east is expected during the
night? Maybe the beeb forecaster only thinks people are interested in the
daytime weather now! Admittedly most of us are asleep and won't directly
experience it, but after such a protracted dry spell it might be worth
playing up more.

A friend at the MO has had a look at the mesoscale run and according to her
the T+36 frame (http://129.13.102.67/wz/pics/brack0a.gif) shows a hefty blob
over Hants/Surrey/Sussex (16mm/hr rates) probably heading to Essex in the
early hours.

I do hope so - whilst its be nice not having to cut the grass it would be
nice to have a bit of green to cut now!

It rained here in the afternoon. Especially at about 5:30pm when there
was a rather impressive double rainbow.

We had a shower here yesterday - it lasted all of 10 seconds, and
deposited 0.0mm (well maybe 0.01mm) - sigh.

Hi,

Although personally I've always wondered why cyclists pay so much
attention to protecting their heads, but are perfectly content to wear
silly skin tight shorts when riding mountain bikes! I mean, do off road
motorcyclists wear shorts?!

But anyway, I love cycling in the rain! I love rain full stop. So it's
about time we got some!
