Frequent showers of snow, snow pellets and small hail, mainly slight or moderate but a couple of heavy ones early evening. Showers stopped by 2000z. Some very dry air late afternoon - dew points of -6 to -7 for a time. Snow and hail settled briefly during the day, but the evening showers left 2cm complete cover which has sublimated somewhat overnight to leave 75% cover of 1 cm. Variable amounts of convective cloud - including cumulonimbus - clearing away not long after dusk. Extensive stratocumulus spread in from the north west after 0300z. Visibility generally excellent but falling to poor during precipitation - particularly during the evening showers when it dropped to around 200 metres. Surface wind NW F4-5 moderating F3-4 after 1600z, and backing SW F2 after 2000z. Minimum temperature so far is -2.6 (0307z).
