Default 12Z Model Summary - Monday 27th October 2003

Low pressure (980mb) lies over Western Germany, with another low
(980mb) in the Atlantic to the south of Greenland. High pressure
(1025mb) lies over the Azores. Winds across the UK are mostly moderate
north/northwesterly. Most parts will be unsettled with showers -
wintry on northern hills. Temperatures will be close to or just below
normal in many parts. Beyond this conditions turn milder but stay
unsettled with another low moving in from the Atlantic bring strong
winds and rain followed by showers.

Low pressure (990mb) lies over Scandinavia, with another low (990mb)
over France. Yet another low (965mb) lies in the Atlantic to the south
of Greenland. High pressure (two centres of 1030mb) lies in the
western Atlantic. Winds across the UK are mainly light
north/northeasterlies. Many parts will be unsettled with showers.
850hPa temperatures range from -6C in the far north to +2C in the
south. Forecast 2m temperatures range from +8C in the north to +11C in
the south. Beyond this another low moves in from the Atlantic,
bringing milder weather but potential gales and rain followed by
showers.

(975mb) lies to the south of Greenland. High pressure (1030mb) lies in
the mid-Atlantic well to the west of Spain. Winds across the UK are
moderate to fresh north/northeasterlies. Most parts will be unsettled
with showers - wintry over northern hills. Temperatures will be close
to or just below normal in many parts. Beyond this milder weather
moves in from the Atlantic and continues unsettled and windy in most
parts.

Low pressure (974mb) lies close to Northeastern Scotland. High
pressure (1035mb) lies well to the west of Spain in the Atlantic. The
UK lies under light to moderate west/southwesterly winds, veering to a
moderate north/northwesterly later. Most areas will see showers at
times, with perhaps longer spells of rain in the south. Daytime
temperatures will be close to normal in most areas.

Summary:
A unsettled outlook as we head into the weekend with rain or showers.
After a brief colder spell, conditions look set to turn milder at the
weekend, but there is the risk of possible gales over the weekend as a
deep Atlantic low moves closer.
