I would not normally take much notice of the long range forecasts but
for the last week now it has shown high pressure effecting the UK for
much of the first half of November. It ranges from a Euro to a Scandi
high but the blocking from the east is consistant. If this theme
continues to repeat itself through the rest of Autumn and into winter
there will be so happy member of this group and some unhappy people at
the water companies.

PS. When was the last time there was more than two days with sw'ly
type zonal conditions.

I have been observing exaclty the same thing.
Every time the weather threatens to turn zonal and 'normal' there always
seems to be a high pressure to the east that will cut off the Atlantic flow
in 5-7 days time.
In some autumn/winters zonal conditions can last for 6 weeks at a time.
