Another large high (1045mb) lies well to the northeast towards Siberia. Low pressure (970mb) lies in the Atlantic to the southwest of the UK, with a secondary low (980mb) to the northeast. Winds across the UK are mostly light to moderate south/southwesterlies, fresh in the northwest. Most southern and eastern areas will be mainly dry and fine whilst the west may see some rain or showers. Temperatures will be close to or just above normal in many parts. Beyond this there is little change, but high pressure shows signs of ridging from Siberia all the way towards Greenland. Most southeastern parts will be mainly fine and dry, but the west may be cloudier with a little rain. 850hPa temperatures are close to +5C in most areas. Forecast 2m temperatures range from +12C in the north to +16C in the south. Beyond this there is little change, although winds may bac more southeasterly as high pressure ridges from Greenland to Siberia before developing into a large Scandinavian high. Low pressure (970mb) lies in the Atlantic, with other centres to the northeast of this low. Winds across the UK are moderate to fresh southwesterlies. Most northwestern parts will see a few showers at times, but it will be drier and brighter to the southeast. Temperatures will be close to or above normal in many parts. Beyond this high pressure drifts north to settle over Scandinavia, and may introduce some cooler easterly winds into the south. High pressure (1023mb) lies over Mainland Europe. The UK lies under fresh to strong southwesterly winds. Most places will see a mixture of sunshine and blustery showers, but the south and east will be mainly dry. Daytime temperatures will be close to or just above normal in most areas. Summary: High pressure looks set to dominate once again for the forseeable future, bringing a lot of fine and dry weather to most parts. The far west and northwest may see a little rain at times though thanks to the Atlantic lows. Temperatures will be mostly above normal, but it may turn a bit cooler in the south towards the end of the week with more of an easterly component to the winds developing. |
