Default 12Z Model Summary - Monday 03rd November 2003

High pressure (1040mb) lies to the east of the UK over the Baltics and
into Russia. Low pressure (980mb) lies in the Atlantic to the
west/northwest of the UK. Winds across the UK are mostly light to
moderate southerlies, backing more southeasterly in the southeast.
Most areas will be mainly dry and fine whilst the far west may be
cloudier with a few showers. Temperatures will be close to or above
normal in many parts. Beyond this there is very little change, but
winds continue to back more to a easterly quarter and may bring in
slightly cooler air into the south.

are light to moderate southerlies, backing more to the southeast in
the south. Most parts will be mainly fine and dry, but the west may be
cloudier with a little rain. 850hPa temperatures range from +5C in the
north to +9C in the south. Forecast 2m temperatures range from +13C in
the north and southeast to +16C in the west. Beyond this there is
little change.

parts. Beyond this high pressure drifts north to settle over
Scandinavia for a time, and may introduce some cooler southeasterly
winds into the country.

mainly light to moderate south/southeasterlies. Most parts will be

Temperatures will be close to or above normal in many parts. Beyond
this there is little change.

Low pressure (971mb) lies to the west of the UK in the Atlantic, with
a secondary low (993mb) lying to the east of Iceland. High pressure
lies over Mainland Europe. The UK lies under light to moderate
southerly winds. Most parts will be mainly dry and bright. Daytime
temperatures will be close to or just above normal in most areas.

Summary:
High pressure to the east of the country looks set to dominate for at
least the next week, meaning most parts will be dry, fine and mild,
but cooler conditions may spread into the southeast on the
southeasterly winds.
