Hi, everyone,
I fear the high minima recorded last night could well be lost to the 09Z - 09Z rule at many climatological sites. Example here at Copley, 09Z yesterday (4th) 4.3C, so min read this morning is 4.3C. Temperature 18Z 4th 8.9C, so min 18Z 4th to 06Z 5th was 8.9C. Min 00Z to 06Z, however was 10.7C with a high of 12.9C at 0050Z. Official figure reported to MO is 4.3C. "There are lies, damned lies and statistics" - Mark Twain or Benjamin Disraeli? ATB, -- Ken Cook, Copley (5miles north of Barnard Castle), County Durham. 830ft http://mysite.freeserve.com/copley (MO climat. site updated before 10Z and 19Z daily) kencookATcopleydurham.freeserve.co.uk --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.536 / Virus Database: 331 - Release Date: 03/11/03 |

Brian, you can record (for your own purposes) a max/min at 2100 which will then allow you to tabulate a "day max" and a "night min" as well as the "official" figures. A similar problem, of course, arises when warm air comes in overnight after a particularly cold day. P. |
