Default 12Z Model Summary - Friday 07th November 2003

High pressure (1035mb) lies to the east of the UK over Eastern
Europe/Western Russia. Low pressure (975mb) lies out in the Atlantic
to the south of Greenland. Winds across the UK are mostly light in the
southeast, but freshening south/southwesterlies elsewhere. Most
eastern areas will be mainly dry and fine but rain will move in from
the west. Temperatures will be close to normal in many parts. Beyond
this there is little change in the south and east with high pressure
close by keeping most parts here mild and dry, but the Atlantic low
brings some rain to the north and west.

pressure (two centres of 975mb) lies to the southwest of Iceland.
Winds across the UK are freshening south/southwesterlies. Most
souhteastern parts will be mainly fine and dry, but the north and west
will see rain moving in. 850hPa temperatures are close to +4C in most
places. Forecast 2m temperatures range from +9C in the north to +13C
in the south. Beyond this low pressure influences the northwest, but
high pressure remains close to the south and east, keeping conditions
rather mild and settled here.

lies to the south of Greenland. Winds across the UK are light in the
southwest, but freshening south/southwesterlies in the northwest. Most
parts will be mainly dry and bright, but cloudier in the northwest
with rain moving in. Temperatures will be close to normal in many
parts. Beyond this conditions turn more unsettled across all parts,
but the south probably won't see too much in the way of rain.

parts turn windier and mostly unsettled, but the south will see the
driest of the weather before turning potentially stormy later.

High pressure lies over Scandinavia. Low pressure (969mb) lies well to
the west of the UK in the Atlantic, with a secondary low (1011mb)
lying in the Bay of Biscay. The UK lies under light to moderate
southerly winds. Most parts will be mainly dry and bright, but perhaps
some rain in the west. Daytime temperatures will be close to normal in
most areas.

Summary:
A rather more unsettled outlook as we go into next week with low
pressure moving closer to the UK from the Atlantic, with south or
southwesterly winds keeping most parts rather mild.
