erm, totality starts at around 01:04 lasts about 25mins... If you
stopped watching you missed the best bit the "copper" moon.

Saw the start rather fuzzyly through thin and not so thin cloud until
almost totality when the cloud built up along with the wind. Tried
some photos but not bothered loading them as I doubt they'll be more
than a fuzzy blob. B-(

Default Lunar Eclipse

Clear skies here near Cambridge.

I have seen plenty of lunar eclipses over the years and had made no special
plans to get up specially for this one. But I happened to wake up at 0113
bang in the middle of totality. Bearing in mind that this was far from
being a central eclipse, the moon was remarkably dark. I have seen eclipse
that were more or less central when the moon remained a lot brighter than
this one. I guess the earth's atmosphere tonight was rather cloudy in the
appropriate places, hence the darkish eclipse.

A very accurate description of the photos I took. The only acceptable
photos I've ever taken of the moon were through binoculars (don't own a
telescope), but I couldn't be bothered to set anything up for
intermittent views through cloud, in the cold. Watched some of it on a
live webcam, but not quite the same is it.
