Default 12Z Model Summary - Friday 14th November 2003

Low pressure (980mb) lies to the east of Iceland. High pressure (two
centres of 1030mb) lies over mainland Europe. Winds across the country
are mostly moderate to fresh west/southwesterlies. Some rain may move
across the country, with the brightest weather in the south and east.
Temperatures will be close to or just above normal. Beyond this
conditions remain mostly unsettled and windy with rain or showers in
the north, these unsettled conditions extending further south.

lies in the Bay of Biscay and ridges into Central Europe. Winds across
the country are mostly moderate to fresh west/southwesterlies. Some
rain may move across the country, but the south will be mostly dry.
850hPa temperatures are close to +5C in many places. Forecast 2m
temperatures are close to 10C in the north to 14C in the south. Beyond
this conditions remain rather unsettled at times, especially in the
north, whilst the south is rather dry and mild for a time before
turning more unsettled later.

(990mb) to the east of Iceland. High pressure (1030mb) lies over
France. Winds across the UK are moderate to fresh
west/southwesterlies. Most southern parts will be mainly dry and
bright, but showers are likely towards the northwest. Temperatures
will be close to or just above normal in many parts. Beyond this
conditions are rather unsettled with rain or showers at times in most
parts before perhaps turning colder later.

(1032mb) lies in the Atlantic to the west of Spain and ridges into
Central Europe. The UK lies under moderate to fresh west/southwesterly
winds. Most parts will be mainly cloudy with some rain in the north
and west. Daytime temperatures will be close to or just above normal
in most areas.

Summary:
A unsettled week seems probable next week, with the unsettled
conditions in the northwest at first spreading further south and east.
There are then some hints that it may turn colder towards next
weekend, but this is still a long way off.
