Default OTish: Civil Service Pensions

I am 57 years old so only 3 years away from receiving my Civil Service pension
earned during 20 years of service in the Met Office.

I decided to freeze it at the time of my leaving the Office but I have had no
correspondence since from either the Met Office descendants of Met O 10
(Pensions) or the Civil Service pensions people who used to be at Cheadle Hulme
if my memory serves me right.

Considering my present employers send me annual statements the lack of anything
similar from the Civil Service pensions people is a bit concerning.

I know for sure that there are retired Met Office employees on this group.
Could they or anyone else tell me if you have to approach Civil Service pensions
or they approach you as age 60 looms? I'm sure I informed Met O 10 about my
change of address so correspondence should arrive at the correct address.

Many thanks

various to enquire - I have addresses tucked away. Will send you an
email later today (am rushing about atm to take my mother to a doctor's
appointment).

.... this is apparently NOT correct: the web site noted by Andy elsewhere
( http://www.civilservice-pensions.gov.uk/Menu.asp ) states that under
these circumstances, *you* should contact them! The site gives most of
the important contact points - hope my original reply hasn't misled
anyone.
