The met office website is showing minimum temperatures of -7 and -9 for
Penrith at the weekend. http://www.meto.gov.uk/weather/europ...s/penrith.html I don't see any proof of this from other charts yet. Does anyone know of a source to back this up. Thanks, Calum. |

It may go below 0C, but not that far. -- Mike Coleraine Posted 21/11/2003 11:00:32 UTC My aurora images here http://www.mtullett.plus.com/29a-oct and http://www.mtullett.plus.com/20-nov/ |

As Martin Rowley pointed out in another thread a few days ago the trend is to remove the human forecaster from the forecasting process and provide machine products direct to the end user. It may go below 0C, but not that far. I've just checked the BBC site and it comes up with -1 and -2 for those two days, more realistic figures IMHO. Yet, the source for those data are surely the same - UKMO? I agree with Norman too about other machine generated "products". From talking to others, who look at such forecasts, I am often asked why there are such big discrepancies and in all honesty I cannot give a sensible answer. It is even difficult to say which is the most reliable source. One would hope the MO site would be, but..... -- Mike Coleraine posted to uk.sci.weather 21/11/2003 13:06:13 UTC My aurora images here http://www.mtullett.plus.com/29a-oct and http://www.mtullett.plus.com/20-nov/ |

I simply don't use these sites - and not just the Met O ones either - many of these pretty-pretty forecast sites are not particularly good guidance. Martin. |

neither will I. I complained about erroneous information on the BBC 5 day
forecast for Aboyne 3 years ago and got the run around that it was the met offices fault who said it was the bbc's fault and on it went and f**k all has been done about it since. They just refuse to accept that they can be wrong, arrogant t**ts ! "Norman Lynagh" wrote in message ...
