Default Winter forecasts so far

Having seen several forecasts now it seems that they are pointing in the
direction of mild; suprise, suprise.

Philip Eden is forecasting a mild December at 1.5C above average. That is a
really quite mild December. I wonder if yet another mild winter means
another hot summer. It is getting a bit boring this is.

The last time I remember a notably cool October being followed by a
notably mild November is 1974. The following winter was exceptionally
mild.

I see we're getting to the "writing off winter before it has happened" time
of year. How about waiting and seeing

TYPICAL!
The 12z runs are now displayed and the 528 line is North of UK and winds are
now southerlies!

Its amazing what a difference 6 hours can make to the models.

Exactly. And some people think they can forecast the weather to two week
precision 3 months ahead, or give forecasts for Christmas week in October. Pah !
Which planet are they on ?
