Low pressure (1010mb) lies close to the west of Spain, with another low (two centres of 985mb) to the northeast of Scandinavia. Winds across the country are mostly light and variable in direction. Many parts will be mainly dry with some sunny spells, but overnight fog and frost are possible. Temperatures will be close to normal. As we head through into the weekend and into early next week, the high slowly slips southeastwards into Europe. Most parts will be mainly settled with overnight fog and perhaps frost. 850hPa temperatures range from -1C in the east to +5C in the southwest. Forecast 2m temperatures are close to 9C or 10C in many areas. Beyond this high pressure remains slips away into Europe, with more unsettled conditions trying to push into western Britain. Summary: The weekend looks like seeing high pressure close to the UK, bringing a lot of dry weather, but probably rather dull and cloudy with patchy fog. Into next week there are signs that the high will slip away east or southeast into mainland Europe. |
