... Gavin, isn't it measured and reasonable to take the word of two of the worlds formost climatologists? Why instead would we accept the word of 'Gerald Marsh' who is 'a physicist who has managed the implementation of an important weather forecasting program for the U.S. Air Force'? Peter Hearnden No disrespect meant Peter - I hate this topic but every so often it keeps cropping up. There are several answers you can give to this one. I have seen it in universities and other fields whereby professionals just love to publish something whereby they can gain a good bit of publicity just for the sake of it. Its an old trick and the global warming issue is an excellent forum for those who want to get in on some publicity. I have seen this before and I have said this before. Physicists by the way tend to make a better job in the field of climatology than many others. There are far too many people these days who purport to be climatologists. The only decent genuine climatologists we had in this country were Hubert Lamb and Gordon Manley. The one who put a dammed good flea in my ear in the late 1980s was someone from outside this country. He incidentally had a degree in maths and physics and is now in his mid 90s. He and the others I have mentioned above came from the era when education was education. These days education has been manipulated by populist tendencies and we are seeing it everywhere. It is getting increasingly difficult to get an objective view on anything. -- ************************************************** ************************** ************************************************** * Gavin Staples. website updated regularly www.gavinstaples.com Currently writing book titled: Contemporary Societies East and West. Well, this is the problem. It seems entirely measured and reasonable to me
to take the word of a top climatologist over a physicist re climate. Otherwise it's like MMR, don't trust experts and point to some other evidence. Perhaps next time I need a plumber I'll call a carpenter! Whatever, surely Trenberth and Karl know their stuff if anyone does, (as, also surely, do several of Lamb's successsors at CRU east anglia btw) they've been climatologists of note for yonks ? (and that is a question). "Gavin Staples" wrote in message ... Peter Hearnden" wrote in message ...
