Default Ahhh...the SOS at Weather Display BG

Ran across this post from an unhappy Weather Display user today at their
website. I love to see how a gripe there gets twisted around every time so
that the poor bloke with the problem gets left feeling like a real AH. Often
for dramatics, the author sometimes threatens to throw in the towel too in
many threads.

Each time I see even the smallest hint of dissatisfaction there the author's
defenders immediately jump in to back him up, never mind that the guy
(rookie) hasn't been able to use the software properly. Pay good money for
software, but tough luck if it doesn't work I guess is what some of the
defenders are trying to impress. Take your lumps & shut up!

Just seems like the person has a legitimate complaint but the forum
apparently isn't the place to air issues; problems? we ain't got no stinkin
problems here! How dare you!

Reminds me of a story I read at CNN:

Cheers

This isn't uncommon behavior in that forum. Yes the user (Rookie) has
a valid problem using the program and presented the facts fairly. No
evidence of an attack on the author there that I can see.

Yet user TB begins the typical name calling after sensing this as a
personal attack on the program author. Others also rally round the
author with a pat on the back, and the "take a break, maybe the
problem will go away" & "it's Rookies fault for bringing this up now"
attitude.

So what does this do? It simply tells the author, "why should I
attempt to fix anything when these others will stand up for me?"
Apparently these are uncommonly generous users who are willing to pay
for software and overlook problems for the sake of their buddy, the
author. I wonder if they'd be so understanding when they encounter a
problem that goes unsolved with this or other software? I bet they
don't give Bill Gates this much slack!

All of this simply undermines the credibility of the author.

Being in the software business myself, I only wish some of my clients
were as understanding when problems arise!

Maybe this person should get out of the farming business and take care
of his software full time, or drop the program and devout all his time
to farming. But it appears that he isn't doing well this way, at least
not on the software front, or how he manages his associates in the
forum.
