Not the same thing that Jack and I were talking about: this is
snow-clearing Northolt, end December 1978, using the standard rotary snow-blowers: note that the 'MET' depth was quite small IIRC, around 6 cm, but the character of the snow and the wind did its job - the sculpture of snow is outside the Met Office window of the time, but quite a bit of the snow came *in* the office. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/booty.weather/1978_xx.jpg http://homepage.ntlworld.com/booty.weather/022.jpg http://homepage.ntlworld.com/booty.weather/012.jpg http://homepage.ntlworld.com/booty.weather/001.jpg Martin. -- FAQ & Glossary for uk.sci.weather at:- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/booty.weather/uswfaqfr.htm |

Martin sent this link
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/booty.weather/022.jpg That is more or less how it is done today - well it was when I was last at Aberdeen in the snow some six years ago. I have tried a Google search for airfield snow clearance equipment, but didn't get very far. I'll try again. Jack |
