CET figures for January ( Temperature and Year ) in Descending order.

7.5 1916
7.3 1796
7.3 1921
7.1 1834
6.9 1733
6.8 1975
snipped for brevity

Good one. Just shows, in spite of the repeated mildness of recent (since
1989) January's, we've still some way to go to break some long standing
records in there! Closer with the February's though, although the two

warmer
ones are very long standing. Perhaps the gloom & doom about the end of
winter for the forseable future is overdone somewhat.

Good point Pete. I was thinking the same when I saw these tabulated
like this. Well done Shaun for putting these on.

Regards, Gavin.

Some of the CET data is quite shocking, for example, Feb 1947 is the coldest
in the CET series but was followed by the warmest summer period ( May to
September ) in the CET series. None of the recent summers even compare and
that includes 1976!

I shall do some more, but probably not til after the Christmas period.

Merry Christmas
Shaun Pudwell.
