Default Usual?

On leaving work at around 10pm Saturday all the cars were well and truly
frozen, iced windscreens etc., yet after an hour in a local hostelry,
walking home I noticed NO ice or freezing on any cars possibly indicating it
had in fact got warmer during that time - and I'd assume quite substantially
so? Is this normal or was it just the beer creating an optical illusion?
I'm in Manchester by the way.

Not all that unusual, if it's been clear and then a cloud drifts over
inhibiting radiation from surfaces.
