================================================== ===============
This forecast summary is my *PERSONAL OPINION* of how the weather may unfold next week. I will take no responsibility whatsoever for any actions arising from its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of freedom and the great love for meteorology that I personally enjoy and wish to share freely with others. ================================================== =============== Summary valid for Sunday 04/01/04 to Saturday 09/01/04 TOI (time of issue) Friday 02/01/04 2030 UK local time This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX, and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten Moderate to high confidence for a changeable week ahead with possibly stormy weather later. Temperatures around normal, which means spells of snow for Scottish mountains and night frost in any quieter interludes. Negligible chance of any very cold wintry weather nationwide. Sunday looks like starting bright and frosty in many parts but rain and strong winds will spread south and east during the day. Temperatures around normal. Rain should clear away from the SE on Monday to be followed by sunny spells and scattered showers and turning cooler with frost in the evening. Rain and strong winds again on Tuesday as another Atlantic frontal system rolls in, temperatures near normal but perhaps mild for a time in the south. Clearing up again on Wednesday before yet more deep Atlantic lows race towards northern Scotland bringing spells of wet and windy weather to all areas to the end of the week. Moderate chance of some stormy spells with damaging wind gusts and cold enough for snow at times over northern high ground with possible blizzards in the Highlands, but temperatures averaging out around normal in a predominantly cool westerly airflow. Trend for the following week beginning 11/01/04 at moderate confidence is for more unsettled wet weather with normal temperatures. Low risk of very cold northeasterlies setting in by the weekend. As always this and previous forecasts are available at http://www.lyneside.demon.co.uk/weeklydiscussions.htm This forecast was brought to you from Met. Office Dartmoor. Cheers, Will.
