What would the BBC weather dolly's do if the word "MILD" was removed from
the English language.

Are they on some sort of commission for the number of times that they can
use this word in their hapless forecasts.

Forget the facts, that on occasions we are up to our necks in water, with
rivers bursting their banks with peoples property being destroyed by
torrents of muddy water surging through their homes, to say nothing on the
cost of the insurance claims, and the cost to repair or possibly rebuild
river banks and flood defences.

But the saving grace at the end of all this will be, At least it will be
"BLOODY" MILD...

I wish they would have been around in January 1963 to see just how they
would have handled that one.

Well, quite often during that month they would have been able to say:
"At least it will be dry and sunny."

Nice one. And many more spring to mind:

Dec 1952 - "at least you'll be spared the sight of all those bomb sites"
Autumn 2000 - "at least you won't need to worry about a hosepipe ban"
July 1988 - "at least you won't need to get your Factor 15"
Oct 1987 - "at least you won't be plagued by cobwebs"
- and so on ad nauseam.
To return to the original posting, what other term could The Fluffies use to
describe temperatures of 8-10°C? It's not their fault.
