The Met Office Sunday 00GMT "Fax" chart for Monday 12GMT is out (on
Avbrief anyway) and it has the Low 976 millibars centred squarely over the Midlands, with *really* tight isobars over Southern Counties (not just the coast). BBC News 24 Weather are currently forecasting gusts inland of 70 mph but the TV chart I saw looked out of date. The new "fax" chart looks (and measures) worse than that, a real hammering for the South (especially the Coast) if it comes off. I don't like the look of it one little bit. The GFS 00GMT run gives some hope. Although it looks broadly similar to the Met Office, it has a shallower Low, slightly further South and a less steep pressure gradient. -- Dave Fareham-too-bladdy-near-the-Solent-for-my-liking. |
