Just to add, I'm not sure if registration is open to all or just those
afilliated with a meteological organisation (there is a section on the
registration form where you need to specify an organisation.). As a result, I
decided not to register.

Actually, it says "Enter your organisation / affiliation / address:",
and I take that to mean *one* of those rather than *all* of them.
Besides, one of the possible reasons for access in the drop-down box
is "personal interest". If individuals are excluded, and from what I
remember from others' comments they're not, it doesn't say so! (The
page could do with being clearer on that point, though.)

Individuals are not excluded. I registered a long time ago out of
"personal interest".
